Environmental Sustainability

Environmental sustainability is central to the proposals for Wandon Park which has been designed to maximise the benefit of the surrounding area.

The sympathetic design of the site provides a significant amount of green land that for public use as well as opportunities to improve existing features. For example, there are plans to make enhancements to the existing Brickkiln Wood which lies at the centre of the development and Stubbocks Wood to the north, both of which will be actively managed in the future.  New woodland areas and hedgerows would also be planted and improvements made to existing wildlife habitats.

Bloor Homes’ commitment to meeting high levels of environmental sustainability at Wandon Park will extend from the current design phase right through to construction. New homes and buildings will be energy efficient and low cost to run, meeting the standards of Code for Sustainable Homes.

A detailed Travel Plan for the development will include measures such as discounted bus passes and cycle vouchers which, along with improved bus services and access by foot or bike, will encourage non-car journeys.

On site storage basins will collect and retain surface water drainage before returning it to the underlying groundwater.
